root of the word JIHAD is J-H-D which has the following
meanings:
-To
strive, toil or labour
-To exert oneself or one's powers or efforts or endeavours
or ability
-To employ oneself vigorously, strenuously, laboriously, diligently,
studiously, sedulously, earnestly or with energy
-To be diligent or studious [in an affair]
-To use one's utmost power, efforts, endeavours or energy
-To use or exert one's utmost power, efforts, endeavours or
ability, in contending with an object of disapprobation

is JIHAD Fi Sabeel-i-Allah?
-To
use or exert one's utmost power, efforts, endeavours or ability,
in obedience of Allah, in contending with tyranny, injustice,
wrongdoings, transgression, and devil
Sabeel-i-Allah
in Quran has been used opposite to sabeel-i-Taghoot [4:76].
Sabeel-e-Taghoot
has the following meanings:

The way of tyranny
o The way of injustice
o The way of wrongdoing
o The way of aggression and transgression
o The way of devil
Jihad
Fi Sabeel-i-Allah is mentioned in Quran in the following verses:
[61:11, 49:15, 9:88, 9:81, 9:41, 9:24, 9:20, 9:19, 8:74, 8:72,
5:54, 5:35, 4:95, 2:218]
What
is JIHAD Fi-Allah?
To
use or exert one's utmost power, efforts, endeavours or ability,
in obedience of Allah, in order to seek His Guidance to His
ways as given in Quran [22:78, 29:69]
What is the JIHAD against?
-Against
Taghoot [i.e. tyranny, injustice, wrongdoing, transgression
and devil]
-Against Kufaar. Those who expel the Messenger and/or
you from your homes [60:1, 66:9, 9:73]. [But] The Great Jihad
with kafireen is not with the sword but [with the message
of] Quran [25:52].
-Against Munafiqeen . Those who meditate plots and
seek vengeance against you [9:48, 9:73, 9:74, 66:9]
What
are the Means for JIHAAD?
-Maal
[i.e. Financial resources] [61:11, 49:15, 9:88, 9:81, 9:44,
9:41, 9:20, 8:72, 4:95]
-Nafs [i.e. physical or mental resources][61:11, 49:15,
